🎮🏆 Falcons Esports is Heading to Regionals! 🏆🎮
We are excited to share that our Fortnite team has officially qualified for the OHSAA Esports Ohio in-person postseason championships for the 2025–2026 season!
Our team will compete in the OHSAA Regional Championships on February 21–22, 2026. Since Fortnite competition concludes at the regional level, they will also be competing on-site for the OHSAA State Championship title during the same event weekend!
Esports Ohio is a nonprofit, teacher-founded organization that partners with the Ohio High School Athletic Association to provide structured, educational esports competition. This program emphasizes teamwork, communication, leadership, problem-solving, and digital citizenship — skills that extend far beyond the game and into the classroom and workforce.
We are incredibly proud of our students and coaches for their hard work and dedication. Thank you to everyone who continues to support esports as a meaningful extracurricular opportunity for our students.

Congratulations to the 75th annual Hancock County Honors Band and Honors Choir. These students put on an amazing performance this afternoon after only a few hours of practicing together.
Thank you to the Riverdale Music Boosters who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this event a success. Additional thanks to our administration, technology, maintenance, and custodial teams for creating the time and space for Hancock County musicians to thrive.
Finally, thank you to the Hancock County Band and Choir Directors, the parents and guardians, our incredible guest conductors Mr. Kent Vandock and Mr. Matt Frost, and their students for their hard work and dedication to this craft. Music is alive and well in Hancock County.

Bus Routing Update!
Starting Tuesday February 17 we are fortunate to be able to add one of our bus routes back!
Monday, when we're off for President's Day, you should be able to see your student's bus number and stop time in the MyRide K12 Bus App. These should be very similar if not even the same as they were when we started the school year. Please email any questions to transportation@riverdalefalcons.org.

🏀 Senior Night – Girls Basketball
📅 February 10
On February 10th, we recognized two seniors who have meant so much to our girls basketball program. We are incredibly thankful for their dedication, leadership, and the memories they’ve helped create over the years.
❤️ Regan Boutwell
Regan is the daughter of Adam and Sara Boutwell and has one sibling, Summer Boutwell.
One of Regan’s favorite basketball memories came during her sophomore year when she hit a buzzer-beating half-court shot at McComb — a moment none of us will ever forget! She also cherishes the post-game celebrations that included dumping water on the coaches after big wins.
Her favorites include Ohio State football, Chipotle, Tate McRae, and Starbucks. Regan’s favorite teachers are Mrs. Phelps and Mrs. Caudill because they always made class fun and were willing to help her with anything she needed.
Regan would like to thank her parents for supporting her throughout her high school career and always being there for her.
After graduation, Regan plans to attend Rhodes State College to become a dental hygienist and then pursue becoming an EFDA. She also hopes to become a youth leader at her church.

Mackenzie is the daughter of Erica and Tyler Furr and has one sibling, Cameron Furr.
Some of Mackenzie’s favorite basketball memories include the post-game wins that turned into water fights and the strong bonds she built with her teammates throughout the season.
Her favorites include Ohio State, Cane’s as her go-to place to eat, and shop class because it was hands-on, fun, and more than just sitting at a desk.
Mackenzie’s favorite teacher is Mrs. Wehrle. She describes her as kind, friendly, and someone who truly cares about every student — always taking the time to talk, smile, and check in, even outside of school.
We are proud of these two seniors and grateful for everything they’ve given to our program. 🏀

Riverdale Boys Golf Honored at Halftime
Kory Kotterman.
Kory was the first Riverdale golfer to ever qualify for the Ohio State Golf Tournament. In 2004, he competed at the Ohio State University Grey Course, where he shot rounds of 81 and 76, finishing 19th in the state. Kory is the son of Bill and Tammy Kotterman, and his achievement helped set the standard for Riverdale golf.
Andrew Kuenzli.
Andrew is the only Riverdale golfer to qualify for the state tournament twice, and the only golfer in school history to qualify as a freshman. He competed at the Ohio State University Scarlet Course both years, finishing 51st as a freshman and 31st as a junior. Andrew also holds the school record with 46 medalist finishes over four years. Andrew is the son of Brian and Andrewa Kuenzli.
Nathan Alge.
Nathan qualified for the Ohio State Golf Tournament as a senior, competing at NorthStar Golf Club in Sunbury. He fired rounds of 80 and 79 to finish 20th in the state. Nathan was a medalist 17 times in his four-year career and holds the school record for a 9-hole score with a 32. Nathan is the son of Jason and Amanda Alge.
We would also like to take this opportunity to recognize Mr. Ruggles for his many years of dedication to Riverdale athletics. Mr. Ruggles was hired at Riverdale in the summer of 2000 as a high school science teacher, high school quiz bowl coach, and seventh-grade boys basketball coach. The following summer, when the high school golf coaching position opened, he stepped in and took on that role as well.
Over 26 years of coaching, Mr. Ruggles led many outstanding teams and individuals, including each of these three state qualifiers. We would like to sincerely thank Mr. Ruggles for his commitment, leadership, and years of service to Riverdale.

This Sunday February 15th, Riverdale will be hosting some of the most talented student musicians in Hancock County. Students from Riverdale and beyond have auditioned, we selected and they have been working hard to prepare an amazing show. Come show your support for our local high school musicians, and enjoy a wonderful concert.
Chemistry students learned about percent composition and applied it to a real life situation- who doesn’t want to know if double stuf oreos are really double stuffed?!
