A message from Mrs. Wehrle: 🇺🇸❤️🤍💙
I am so fortunate to be able to coordinate our 8th grade Washington DC trip for Riverdale! Mrs. Caudill, and Mr. Sorg traveled with me, along with 30 of our Riverdale 8th graders and 15 parents to Washington DC the week of May 19-22. While there, we were able to see the White House, the WWII, Vietnam, Korean War, Jefferson, Lincoln, FDR, United 93, Iwo Jima, Air Force, Pentagon, and MLK Jr. Memorials. We also saw the Washington Monument, visited the Smithsonian Institution Museums, along with the National Holocaust Museum. We were able to go to the National Archives to see the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. We walked by the Library of Congress and the Supreme Court building. Claire Inbody, Lexi Dailey, Evenlyn Egbert, and Trenton Brown were chosen by an essay writing contest to place a wreath for Riverdale Middle School on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier for the day. At Arlington National Cemetery, we also toured Robert E Lee's house, saw JFK's grave and eternal flame, watched the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, saw the mast of the USS Maine, and saw the space shuttles Columbia and Challenger's memorials. We were able to walk through and around the Capitol Building. We visited Mount Vernon and got to tour George Washington's house and grounds, and see the gravesites and tombs of George and Martha Washington. We went to Ft. Myer Army Base and attended their presentation "Twilight Tattoo" which highlighted the Army's history in all of the US wars. Makaylee Frey and Caleb Powell received American flags that had been previously flown at the US Capitol Building from the tour guide for being wonderful examples of students who exhibited patriotism, sacrifice, integrity, responsibility, and citizenship while on the trip. It was a lot of touring in a short amount of time, that included a lot of walking, but so much was learned, and so much fun was had! ❤️🤍💙🇺🇸

Thank You and Congratulations! 35 amazing years with Riverdale as an amazing math teacher, impacting countless lives. Enjoy retirement Mr. Norris Alfred.

Congratulations on an amazing year K-2 staff and students. Many honors and Awards handed out to an amazing group of students this morning.

8th grade Falcons experiencing lifelong memories on the DC trip.

Mrs. Dapper’s 5th grade HGU students visited our future Falcons this week and read to our preschool classes. All of the students really enjoyed their time together as one group says goodbye to elementary school, while the other is just starting!! Have a great summer!

*Correction to the 5pm All-Call this evening:
Thursday's early release is a 2hr early release. Apologies for the confusion.

Students enjoyed big bounce houses today as part of their end-of-the-year reward! Great job, students!

Thank you to our fabulous PTO for providing BE BRAVE t-shirts for our entire elementary students and staff in honor of our virtual author, Angelique Monet. On a virtual platform, Angelique presented her book "The Bravest Warrior" to our students in three separate sessions. Students and staff alike thoroughly enjoyed the day, Angelique, and our t-shirts!

Two extraordinary Falcons, Griffin Bushong and Cameron Powell, enlisted with the United States Marine Corps yesterday. Thank you for taking the oath to defend our nation!

Many thanks to Marathon Petroleum for sponsoring the Toledo Opera on Wheels to come and present "Beauty and the Beast" to students in grades K-5. We enjoyed hearing their terrific voices!!!

Our students are so grateful for our community partners like Hempy Water, who not only gave 8 scholarships during our awards banquet, but also provides bottled water and t-shirts for various school events.

To continue from our awards night, Keegan McBride received the Ralph & Olive McElroy scholarship. A couple of our future educators, Allison Wodruff and Waylon Price, received multiple awards, including the Hancock Retired Teachers Association scholarships and the Agnes Lutz Memorial Scholarships. Braden Mellott, Waylon Price, and Megan Donaugh secured all three of the top scholarships from Ball Metal. Kellan Gossard, a future attorney, received scholarships from the David C. Reinbolt Memorial and the Zonta Club of Hancock County.

Our seniors are off to their next adventure! Many received scholarships from several area organizations. Madelynn Clark received a renewable scholarship from the Marie Berry Educational Fund to continue her education. Kennedy Phelps and Ethan Elwood received multiple awards including those from the Riverdale Athletic Boosters and Hempy Water. Eden Morris and Emma Tucker received scholarships from the Riverdale Community Lions Club, among others. Makaya Ledesma received awards from the Tree Town Festival and the VFW Post 1182 Auxillary.
