Riverdale Local School District
Community/Media Statement
April 27, 2026,
Riverdale Local Schools has accepted K-12 assistant principal Mr. Nathan Sorg’s resignation at tonight’s board of education meeting.
Following an incident on Tuesday April 14, 2026 in the Riverdale K-12 office, the district responded as such: The District promptly reported the incident to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department and placed Mr. Sorg on administrative leave, directing him to remain off school grounds. The District has fully cooperated with the Sheriff’s Department. In addition, the District conducted its own investigation. During the pendency of the District’s investigation, Mr. Sorg resigned his employment with Riverdale Local Schools.
While I cannot go into detail about the incident based on federal and state student privacy laws, I can tell you that the Board has policies and procedures, consistent with Ohio law, that address the use of restraint and seclusion of students and expects its employees to act consistently with the law.
We know our families count on us to provide a safe environment for our students every day, and student safety is our top priority. Again, thank you for your continued support of Riverdale Local Schools.
Greg Rossman,
Superintendent, Riverdale Local Schools
